Heads
turned our way, I waited with shaking hands and a racing heart , this was a
culmination of what love should be , under the African Moon with a starless
night out on the roof top. So far everything had gone to plan but the best of
plans have been known to fail. I could hear the music softly fade out in the
background, I wanted to sing to her but
my voice was not the stuff of angels and I always did better with words.
Besides a perfect scene is made of this, heartfelt words and music to move the
soul.
She was gazing into my eyes , to tell you the truth it felt like time had frozen. Those eyes i had become accustomed to, the words they had spoken to me without her uttering a single sentence. This single moment would be so defining yet in essence so simple. " Memories are made of this" , I could picture my uncle telling me those exact words but right now it all felt so far away.
I
caught a glint of tears at the edge of her eyes against the moonlight , I began
to smile but then her expression made me pause . It wasn't going to be a yes,
not this time. I closed the wedding ring
box and stood to my feet, who would have guessed her answer would be no.
